Indian Lake Yacht Club
Cass County Michigan
The Indian Lake Yacht Club is a private, membership-based club located on the southeastern side of Indian Lake in Dowagiac, Michigan and provides its members with a full range of summer sailing, social events, and youth activities. Our regular sailing fleet is MC Scows, and Sunfish for our Junior Yacht club. The club is a member of the Yachting Clubs of America, which provides reciprocity to all 750 YCA clubs. We are also a member of the Western Michigan Yachting Association.
The club was founded and moved into its current location in 1935. The building itself was built somewhere around 1929 and is said to have been a dance hall before we moved in.
We have regular Sunday and Holiday sailing regattas featuring our MC Scow sailors. The ILYC also offers many activities and hosts a full array of social events for all ages. These currently include Cardboard Boat Race and Ice Cream Social for the kids, Cocktail Bingo for the adults, Open Grill Night, MC Scow sailboat racing, , Live “Music on the Lake” for everyone, Sunday Morning Pancake Breakfasts, ‘Ladies of the Lake’ Luncheons, Boating Safety classes, the Junior Yacht Club sailing instructional programs, and more. See the ‘Calendar’ tab for the calendar of this season’s events.
The ILYC is open to members and their guests from Memorial Day to Labor Day. New memberships are available and prospective members are encouraged to visit the club website and learn about the many family oriented activities and events ILYC offers.
